THOMAS BENGTSSON is our statistics guru. He received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2000. From 2000 to 2003 he was a Visiting Scientist in the Geophysical Statistics Project at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, CO; from 2003 to 2005 he was the Neyman Visiting Professor at the Statistics Department, University of California-Berkeley. From 2005 to 2009, he was a Member of Technical Staff in the Statistics and Learning Research Department at Bell Labs, Murray Hill, NJ. Since 2009 he has been a Senior Scientist in the Biostatistics Department at Genentech, in San Francisco, CA.
CARL HAACKE is our business guru. He founded Skylight Interactive, Inc., which creates, market-tests and commercializes new technology ventures. Before this he was the founder of Skylight Consulting, which specialized in developing strategic initiatives and analysis, most frequently for media companies. He was co-founder of Skylight Wireless, a start-up that provided customized information services for public spaces such as convention centers. Prior to Skylight Consulting, Haacke was an Economic Policy Advisor in the White House National Economic Council and Special Assistant to the Chief Economist in the Labor Department during the Clinton Administration. During this time he spearheaded new policy initiatives and managed large cross-functional teams of senior officials across the Federal Government. Haacke has an MBA from Columbia University and Masters Degree in Economic Policy from the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University. Carl is also the author of "Frenzy," published by St. Martin’s Press. He has been a public speaker at many business, economic and investment forums.
